Wondering what is taking Brunello’s space? We have the scoop.
Azima arrived in Canberra with a simple idea: bring people together over generous, traditional Lebanese food without making a meal feel like a special-occasion expense. In its feature on the new City Walk restaurant, HerCanberra introduces Azima as an invitation to feast, built around fresh, vibrant flavours, shared plates and the warmth of Lebanese hospitality.
The concept comes from Adam Elchakak, the owner behind Inka and Koto, together with hospitality consultant George Khoury. Their aim was to recreate the classic Lebanese dishes they grew up with, creating a Canberra restaurant centred on family, friends and the kind of relaxed meals designed to be shared.
That philosophy comes through in the menu, with traditional Lebanese favourites such as shish tawook, served with chilli bread and garlic, and kibbeh filled with mince and onion. Vegetarian and vegan diners are also well catered for, with Middle Eastern classics including hommos, smoked eggplant dips, fattoush, falafel, tabouli and arnabeet makle—golden cauliflower served with tahini.
For HerCanberra, Azima represented a fresh addition to the Canberra City dining scene, bringing traditional Lebanese cuisine to City Walk through an approachable, generous style of dining. With lunch and dinner planned seven days a week, the restaurant was designed as a place where locals could enjoy Lebanese food regularly, whether sharing a meal with family, catching up with friends or settling in for a generous Lebanese feast.
